Call For Participants for KINGDOM: September Workshops Now Open
29/08/13
Phillip Adams and visual artist, Andrew Hazewinkel, together in partnership with the Victorian AIDS Council and Gay Men’s Health Centre, invite you to join our free workshops.
We are calling for participation from the community from all ages and cultures (men / women / gay / straight - all welcome) whose lives have been in some way affected by HIV / AIDS.
KINGDOM: IS A PERFORMANCE BASED ON YOUR STORIES OF HIV/AIDS TO BE CONSTRUCTED THROUGH MOVEMENT AND VISUAL ART-BASED WORKSHOPS FOR PUBLIC PRESENTATION IN 2014.
Through the lens of history, KINGDOM will take your experiences of HIV/AIDS and those of the broader affected community in Victoria to become an expression of physical utopias. KINGDOM encourages participants to discover and articulate their individual Kingdom of utopia. What defines and shapes this? Who we are? How do we define our identities from the outside and inside the life changing impact of a HIV diagnosis?
KINGDOM represents the opportunity for your story to be told through various forms of artistic expression including choreography, visual arts, theatre, text, song or film. We are interested in your involvement and respect your desire for public or private involvement.
Workshops are held over 2-3 days.
The workshops will take place at the Peter Knight Centre, 6 Claremont Street, South Yarra and will be lead by artists: Choreographer Phillip Adams and Visual Artist Andrew Hazewinkel.
Dates are as follows:
Workshop Series 1: Monday 2nd, Tuesday 3rd, Monday 9th Sept 6-9pm
